VGI Medical Expands Executive Team in Preparation for Product Launches

Company hires two sales directors to cover U.S. coasts.

VGI Medical LLC is reaching out to the eastern and western regions of the United States in preparation for its upcoming new product releases. The spine device company based in St. Petersburg, Fla., has hired two new sales sales directors to cover the regions: John Nolan was named area sales director-east, and Steve Allegaert was named area sales director-west, including Hawaii and Alaska.

Nolan served as an officer in the United States Army and brings over 14 years of biotechnology leadership experience to VGI. Nolan has experience in both public and private companies, direct and distributor models, as well as knowledge in the government and U.S. Department of Defense sector.

“VGI has some truly unique and innovative products–both current and pipeline,” Nolan said. “I’m excited to be working with such a talented group of people who combined have over 50 years of Medical Device experience. I look forward to being a part of VGI’s early stages and building my team from the ground up while supporting both our national and global goals.”

Allegaert joins VGI with an extensive medical device background having over 15 years in the orthopedic and neurosurgery market. Allegaert has experience with early stage companies as well as established device companies. His sales management background, along with his past experience as a distributor, will help VGI to expand upon their existing distribution network in the western United States.

Both Allegaert and Nolan come to VGI with successful sales histories and backgrounds in the spine market as well as long term surgeon, distributor and hospital relationships within the neurosurgery and orthopedic markets.

“VGI focuses on developing niche products to satisfy patient and surgeon needs for the treatment of spinal disorders,” said Tov Vestgaarden, Ph.D., president and chief technical officer of VGI. “With plans to release multiple products in 2014, the new management team will have an important role assisting with the future growth of this organization.”
